Story writing specifics 2.0

To begin writing, you need to be ready to read. When I say “read,” I’m not just talking about reading your own writing, your script, or ideas. It also involves reading other people’s books, poems, quotes, short stories, whatever you can get your hands on that has to do with writing. Reading helps with research- this is true because when you read, you form new ideas about a subject, a genre of writing, a style of writing and how to put ideas together for your own intended story. A popular research done shows that reading helps to; 1. improves brain connectivity 2. increases your vocabulary and comprehension.

The two benefits listed above, a writer needs to be able to express him/herself better. further, nurturing our ability to explain our ideas to others. Writing gives us an added advantage of communication and thinking skills. I, personally can testify that reading helps to build the writer in you
Before I started writing in 2018, I had built an interest in reading other people’s works; be it articles, poems, short stories, novels. It wasn’t easy because I never liked reading except for the entertainment. I was lazy at picking up things to read but the drive was within me to write, just didn’t have any motivation, and reason to. What helped me? I have this logic I kept handy, ‘Reading builds your vocabulary of words and in other for me to be an effective writer, I need to get familiar with a lot of words and how to use them’ just like I was finding it difficult, if you too find it difficult to write then I would advise you make reading your interest- not talking about reading for entertainment but for knowledge.
