Imperfectly perfect

It has been ages; I thought I had given up on this blog. I have a topic that is of utmost importance. Jumping right into it- What does it mean to body shame?
I’m 100% sure you’ve your answer prepared in your head, just like every other person should have their views. But I’m sure you’ll agree with me that it simply means; mocking one’s body size or shape. Sadly, this is very common. There are different ways in which people can be body shamed- This could include; fat shaming, shaming for thinness, making critical comments about the shape or the size of a lady’s mammary glands/buttocks, insulting a man for the size or length of his pecker, the list goes on and on.
The crazy thing about this act of ridiculing or mocking a person’s physical appearance is that it does not only affect the ridiculed, it also affects the ridiculer. Why do I say so?
An American author, Wayne Dyer said: ” Judging a person does not define who they’re. It defines who you are.” I believe anyone always looking for an opportunity to body shame others have problems with the way they feel about themselves and their bodies- They are so blinded by fantasies of having a perfect body that they forget we’re all flawed as humans.
Trust me; I’m guilty of this. There was a time I had this issue of facing my flaws. It was so difficult that I had to take some pleasure in commenting on how others looked, thinking that it would make me feel any better. Guess what? I felt like shit eventually.
One way or the other, directly or indirectly, we’re all guilty. Society has tricked us into believing there is a standard for a guy or a girl’s shape, height, or size. This is why we see a lot of useless commercials selling fake butts, penis enlargers, fake chests with abs, fake boobs, and so on. Some of the lies that society feeds you are;
Skinny- Anorexic
Thick- Obese
Virgin- Too good
Non virgin- Slut
Friendly- Fake
Quiet- Rude.
The list goes on and on; society is never pleased, so why should you let anyone tell you how to live your life? You don’t need abs to be a fabulous guy; Shave because you want to, not because you’ve to; you don’t need to kill yourself to have big butts or firm boobs, Just be you and do what makes you happy.
Remember: “Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it.”

  1. Oh yeah, I love the quote ‘your hate is a reflection of you more than it is of me.’ And you know what? Sometimes it’s great to be imperfect. And we should own that. Embrace our wabi-sabi. Anyway, thanks for this post!
